dc.description.resumoEm 2014, foi proposto um metodo empirico para realizar a estimativa do numero de fontes do sinal recebido por multiplos sensores, denominado algoritmo baseado em norma (NB). Esse metodo e baseado na analise da norma Euclidiana de vetores cujos elementos sao os autovalores, normalizados e escalonados nao linearmente, da matriz de covariancia do sinal recebido e os correspondentes indices tambem normalizados. Essas normas sao entao utilizadas para discriminar os maiores autovalores dos demais, permitindo assim a estimativa do numero de fontes. Nesta dissertacao propomos o algoritmo baseado em norma melhorado (iNB) o qual utiliza a norma Ć0,55 para discriminar os maiores autovalores. Diferentemente do algoritmo NB, o iNB nao utiliza o escalonamento nao linear e, tambem, nao necessita da definicao de uma constante empirica para realizar a discriminacao dos autovalores. Para avaliar a eficacia dessa proposta (iNB) comparamos seus resultados com os resultados obtidos utilizando estimadores baseados no criterio de informacao de Akaike (AIC), no metodo do comprimento de minima descricao (MDL) e na teoria de matriz aleatoria (RMT). Essas comparacoes mostram que o algoritmo iNB pode superar a performance de um ou mais desses estimadores em varias situacoes e que o iNB sempre supera o algoritmo NB.por
dc.description.abstractIn 2014, an empirical method was proposed to estimate the number of signal sources being impinged by multiple sensors, named norm-based algorithm (NB). This method is based on analysis of the Euclidean norm of vectors whose elements are the eigenvalues, standardized and scaled nonlinearly, from the received signal covariance matrix and the also standardized corresponding indexes. These norms are then used to discriminate the largest eigenvalues among all of them, allowing the estimation of the number of sources. In this dissertation we propose the improved norm-based algorithm (iNB) which uses the 0,55-norm to discriminate the largest eigenvalues. Unlike the NB algorithm, iNB does not use the nonlinear scaling, and also does not require the definition of an empirical constant to perform the discrimination of the eigenvalues. To evaluate the effectiveness of this proposal (iNB) their results were compared with the results obtained using estimators based on Akaike information criterion (AIC), the method length minimum description (MLD) and random matrix theory (RMT). These comparisons show that iNB algorithm can overcome the performance of one or more of these estimators in various situations and that iNB always exceeds the NB Algorithm.eng
